Boom Box Parade
This great race is a result of
Willimantic's unique independence day parade. For the past 23 years, both
locals and people from around the United States of America have converged on downtown
Willimantic to celebrate the 4th of July in their own distinctive way.
Parade participants line up in creative
costumes and floats armed with their
boom boxes blasting patriotic songs played by the local radio station
Wili
1400AM . The parade is open to all and attracts thousands
of spectators. Many of the spectators
come early to enjoy the race before the parade.
Special Guest
Joining us this year is
David O'Meara. He will be competing in the Boom Box Mile as part of his
quest to complete 20 sub-5 minute mile races in 20 cities in 20 weeks at
age 45. The Boom Box Mile will be his 10th race of his quest for 20! See
his story and his great cause at
ONEMILERUNNER.
Chip Timing
This year's
race will feature the DAG System chip timing By
The Last Mile timing - timing
chips will be picked up with bib numbers on race day. Instructions for
proper chip placement will be included in race packets.
PLEASE NOTE: Timing
chips will be collected at the end of the finish chute, participants must
use the supplied ties to attach chips (do not lace shoelaces through the
timing chips). Failure to return the chip will result is a $10.00 fee!

Registration will start at 8:30 AM to 9:40 AM. Registration is at
(Finish Line) 660 Main Street
